These are Mk.I die-cast models, scale 1/43. Some of
them are really good, some are not. They say they are 1963 coupé-models,
but according to the front and the airflow-system it has to be at least
1965. And the only coupé I know about is the 'Saxon' prototype from
1962, so let's call them saloons instead...
They have also added a new version of Cortina, the new
Ford Cortina-Lotus GT! They are manufactured in China for an Italian
company, C.D.C S.r.l, Via Filippino Lippi No 19, 20131, Milano. They
are sold under the name DetailCars. The models are as follows:
|
| ART370
Ford Cortina Mk.I 1963 |
 |
Coupé, dark green, two-door, beige interior, left-hand
drive, whitewall tyres. This one looks really good.
|
| ART371
Ford Cortina Mk.I 1963 |
| |

Coupé, pale blue, two-door, black interior,
left-hand drive, whitewall tires. This one looks really good.
|
| ART372
Ford Cortina Mk.I 1963 |
| |

Coupé, red, two-door, beige interior, left-hand drive,
whitewall tires. Again, looks really good.
|
|
ART374
Ford Cortina Mk.I 1963 'Rally Africa'
|
| |

White/green with black bonnet, black interior, left-hand
drive, No. 48, reg.no KHL481, Lotus badges. Avoid this one since it
doesn't have that much in common with the original car... (True.
The model is called a GT but is basically a Lotus-Cortina model - ed)
|
| ART375
Ford Cortina Lotus 1963 |
| |

White/green, black interior, left-hand drive. This one
looks really good, although lacks quarter-bumpers.
|
| ART377
Ford Cortina Lotus GT 1966 'Rally Monte Carlo' |
| |

Red with green sideline, two-door, black interior, left-hand
drive, quarter bumpers, extra lights in front, No. 7, reg.no. NN0821C,
Lotus badges. This one looks really weird. Those extra lights looks
like some brand new Bosch (rectangular, mounted on the bonnet). But
I haven't found any pictures of the genuine car so maybe...
|
|
ART378
Ford Cortina Lotus GT 1963 'R.A.C. Rally'
|
| |

White/green with black bonnet, black interior, left-hand
drive, extra lights in front, No. 11, reg.no. NVW239C. This is very
similar to the 1966 car of Bengt Söderström... This one looks really
good. (Although let's hope you don't get one labelled a Ford Cortina
Louts GT... look closely at the base! Also, this car was in fact a GT
and not a Lotus-Cortina. - ed)
|
|
To summarise, the standard cars are really good (apart
from the year confusion), and number 378 is a good one. Try to avoid
the other two. It's too bad that they couldn't spend some more time
doing research. But, it's not every day you see new Cortina models so
I guess we have to be grateful for these.

Just as with the full-scale cars, a Lotus-Cortina costs
more. But as Bruce correctly points out, the African and RAC Rally cars
are listed as being Lotus-Cortinas when they were in fact GTs!
The above prices are in Australian dollars and were
correct early August '98. They don't include postage. Prices quoted
